WHO ARE WE ?

Purpose Finder Academy

Purpose Finder Academy was founded in 2012 by Ms Umera who is its current Managing Director. She started with just 2 learners; the idea was to help the children with extra lessons. The learners increased by 7 learners in 2013 and by the end of 2014 she had 12 learners. Ms Umera felt that the community would be better served if there was a school with a curriculum based on ZIMSEC, CAMBRIDGE & CAPS.

In 2015 the number of learners increased from 45 to 130 learners. In 2016 she opened a second branch in Wynberg. Humble beginnings indeed from 2 learners in a shack in 2012 to 450 learners in two premises in 2017. A third branch was opened in 2019 in Montague gardens. There are more than 1000 students at the moment with 100 staff and 6 non staff members.

Ms Umera’s vision was inspired by the will to see learners learning their own language and culture. She also wanted to create employment, a vision which led her to find Agape Women Empowerment, an organization founded to equip and empower women; currently the organization has 500 members.

OUR ADMISSION POLICY

Admission is open for and granted to all learners.

PFA admission is open for and granted to all expatriate and local students, who have a reasonable expectation of academic and personal success within the PFA program. PFA will admit students who are complete beginners in English but show evidence of being able to adapt to the language and program even if this will require a considerable period of transition. As the ability to learn English is essential for academic and social success at PFA, the school reserves the right to restrict the admission of non-English-speaking children in a given class or grade if it is felt that additional non-English-speaking children at this grade level would be difficult to accommodate effectively.

The school expects all teachers to cater to the students’ individual needs. Of course, with the range of language proficiencies at a school like PFA, each teacher is called upon to develop individualized programs and expectations. PFA hopes to continue to admit students who have a desire and motivation to succeed but who have had difficulties which can be addressed within the normal framework of its classroom program.
